Former East Hampton Town Councilwoman Diana Weir has been appointed to the town planning board.
In a special meeting on Wednesday, the board unanimously voted to have Weir fill the unexpired term of Frank Falcone, who resigned on Nov. 23. The term expires Dec. 31, 2017.
on the planning board will become vacant in 2012; Councilman Elect Peter Van Scoyoc will be leaving for the town board and Patrick Schutte's term is up.
Weir, who lives in Wainscott, works for the Long Island Housing Partnership and has been the chairwoman of the Wainscott Citizens Advisory Committee for the past year. In December of 2010, she was appointed by County Executive Steve Levy to serve .
On Wednesday evening, Weir said in an email that she will resign from both posts since accepting this position.
She will join the on Wednesday night in hearing applications, including a proposal for builder Michael Davis' property, "Wainscott Wombles," on Sayres Path and Montauk Highway. At its meeting last weekend, the voted to write a letter in opposition.
Weir served on the East Hampton Town Board from 2000 to 2003. In addition to her position for the Hauppauge-based LIHP, Weir also serves as a Long Island Power Authority trust and a member of Stony Brook Council. She had also been Chief of Staff to U.S. Congressman Michael Forbes.
