Campaign to Re-Elect Supervisor Kicks-off at Gurney's

Politicians, business owners and friends of Bill Wilkinson gather to show their support.

The campaign to re-elect East Hampton Town Supervisor Bill Wilkinson got an official start on Friday evening when the held a dinner at .

The evening brought out politicians, such as State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele Jr., I-Sag Harbor and Randy Altschuler, the Republican and Conservative parties 2010 congressional candidate. Altschuler, along with State Sen. Ken LaValle, R-C-I-Port Jefferson, are the honorary chairs of the committee to re-elect the supervisor.

Former town supervisor and Suffolk County Legislator Jay Schneiderman, I-Montauk, and former Southampton Town Supervisor Patrick "Skip" Heaney, who has said he will seek the Republican and Conservative nominations to challenge Scheiderman this fall, were both there in  supporter of Wilkinson.

Wilkinson spoke proudly of his first term accomplishments, including a tax reduction, coming in under budget, and his environmental efforts. True to his experience in finance, he said that he "treated the town's checkbook like his own".
