Biden Visit Restricts Air Space Around East Hampton Airport

Vice president expected at fundraiser for Obama in Bridgehampton on Friday night.

On Tuesday, "a temporary flight restriction for VIP movement" was issued beginning on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and ending on Saturday at 1 a.m., according to the Federal Aviation Administration website.

It affects the in Wainscott, according to East Hampton Town Councilman Dominick Stanzione, who is the town board liaison to the airport. He said only the northwest corridor will be utilized during the time frame of the temporary restriction.

The degrees of latitude and longitude are available on the FAA website.

Pilots may not operate an aircraft in the areas covered by the restriction, except for military, law enforcement and medevac operations supporting the Secret Service and the office of the vice president.

"I think it's important that residents of East Hampton be aware that the FAA has ordered East Hampton Airport to restrict operations in this manner," Stanzione said.

Nathan Lane is hosting an "East End for Obama" fundraiser for the president's re-election campaign at the Bridgehampton home of Ellen Chesler and Matthew Mallow on Friday. James Taylor will perform. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, of New York, Sen. Frank Lautenberg, of New Jersey, and Rep. Tim Bishop, of Southampton, are expected to attend.

The host committee consists of Vera Wang, Julianne Moore, Isaac Mizrahi, Dorothy Lichtenstein, Barry Sonnenfeld and Edie Falco — just some of the guests who have contributed or raised at least $10,000.
