Bellone, Carpenter Camps in Online Brawl

Democrats call GOP-made website disparaging.

With nearly four months to go before voters head to the polls to choose a new county executive, punches are already being thrown in the race between County Treasurer Angie Carpenter and Babylon Supervisor Steve Bellone.

Democratic operatives called on the GOP to take down the website bigtaxbellone.com, arguing that the site is full of false charges.

A Carpenter spokesman, however, said all of the information on the website was "verified and re-verified" by county Republicans, and added the biggest issue he could see was the name of the site itself.

"What are we complaining about exactly, that he got called a name?" asked Carpenter campaign manager Rick Belyea. "We're just saying he raises taxes. Should we call him 'A-Lot-of-Tax Bellone?' 'More-Tax-Than-You're-Telling-Us Bellone?'

"Nobody wants anything to go negative," Belyea added. "But at some point, both candidates are going to have to defend their records. That's not negative, that's how it works."

Members of the Bellone campaign didn't refute specific statistics on the website, which features a video of Bellone on a roller coaster, going up and down various charts. In the video, Republicans said Bellone has "broken the backs of residents and driven away businesses."

But a report from the Empire Center for New York State Policy shows much of Babylon Town's tax increases are tied to higher school spending. The Town doesn't control school budgets; they are independently operated by districts, including Lindenhurst, Babylon North Babylon, West Babylon and Deer Park.

"Everyone will get into the nitty gritty as we move foreward," said Dave Hoffman, a Bellone spokesman. "The takeaway here is that they're going negative first. We were hoping to discuss intelligent issues."

Hoffman also cited a robo-call put out to Suffolk County residents, which includes Carpenter's voice, asking them to visit bigtaxbellone.com.

Marriage WAS between a man and woman until hijacked by Cuomo ; Marriage WAS between a man and woman ; NOW Marriage IS a lifestyle choice; recognized by the state. I hope politicians RESPECT others lifestyle choices with the same vigor and accept others lifestyle choices as easily as they have aceepted marriage between a man and another man ; between a woman and another woman . Get ready for CHANGE in many areas of government regulations as a result ...progressive thinkers RULE now ... Live and let live ... I guess ? Blanks unite ; VOTE FOR CANDIDATES WHO REPRESENT YOU TOO ! Its the nature of the beast .... Get YOURS while the gettings good . Pass on the Kool -aid ... Just saying ...lol

Hah my interpretation Frank? Hardly. You are the one who wanted your views to be imposed on everyone as the law of the land. I support freedom. Its not my fault that I read the Constitution and support freedom. You really think its arrogant for one to support the freedom for people to choose? You and I know you can't say that with a straight face. This was a change for the better - we are now living in a more free society. Was abolishing slavery a change for the better? Was it a change for the better to give women the right to vote? Its all about giving our citizens the right to choose, Frank. That's America. It was a disgrace that it took this long for the bill to pass here in NY.....just because things *used* to be a certain way, it doesn't mean its right.

My biggest beef with Bellone is that he is a puppet of the public sector unions like the Suffolk County Police PBA ... guess who gave him the biggest donation, yeah that's right ... the Suffolk County Police PBA. The cops are desperate to get another puppet shill into the county executives office so that they can keep the gravy train rolling.

Carol, Angie has a website too, which I also provided. My views are conservative and tried and true. That is the problem with you lib's, the truth is a painful thing to have to acknowledge. Yes Tom all men are created equal, endowed with certain inalienable rights, life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Pursuit of happiness means that there is no guarantee of happiness. Homosexuals are not being deprived of life or liberty, however it's this pursuit of something that doesn't apply to their union (that they just have to have at the expense of others) which bugs them. The Gollop poll actually stated that there are "Twenty-nine states which have adopted constitutional amendments restricting marriage as between a man and a woman, and 12 other states have passed laws to that effect, according to the Human Rights Campaign." According to Gallup, Democrats and political independents accounted for the ENTIRE shift in its survey compared to last year, when only 44 percent of all respondents favored gay marriage, while 53 percent were opposed. What a shock there! Gallop also points out their margin of error. "In addition to sampling error, question wording and practical difficulties in conducting surveys can introduce error or bias into the findings of public opinion polls. Bottom line with you Carol is that I scare you and you should be scared, the truth is frightening for you lib dem's. Lib dem's never saw a law they didn't try to bend or break to suit their needs.

It's the historical precident for generations upon generations, it's YOU and your small tiny segment of society that has pushed so hard, made squeaky sounds and force your liberal agenda on everyone else. I doubt very much black people would like you to compare the suffering they endured to homosexuals, what's next are you going to compare homosexuals to Jews during WWII? There is no disgrace except for in your very dangerous thought process, but as a kool aid drinker, I wouldn't expect too much more. The day I witness John and Jim perform coitus which results in an offspring which carries both their DNA and which one carries for 10 mths in his womb and goes through the same exact process of making a family together, then you can say the way things *USED* to be. Until then, nothing has changed except the law.
