Woman Released from Hospital After Being Run Over

Police say truck was lifted up, limiting visibility. No charges filed.

A woman who was has been released from the hospital.

Joan Weiss, who is 69, was flown to Stony Brook University Medical Center for a possible head injury. A spokeswoman for the hospital would not say what date Weiss was released, only that she was released.

According to the accident report, the 2004 Ford pick-up truck that hit Weiss had after-market tires and was lifted, limiting the visibility.

Thomas S. Barton, 52, of East Hampton, drove the pick-up in reverse down the driveway on Sherwood Lane. He began to proceed north, when he saw a water bottle go through the air. "He backed up and saw Weiss on the roadway bleeding," the report said.

The accident report said Weiss was in shock. The report indicates that Weiss was walking against traffic.
