Town Police Logs: Fishing Trip Leads To Arrest
The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.
The released the following arrests for the week of Dec. 26:
Ray E. Hightower, 38, of Hempstead, was arrested on a charge of third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, after a fight on a boat in Montauk on Dec. 21. Police were called to the West Lake dock at about 4:20 a.m. They found one man unconscious in a seat on the charter boat with injuries to his face and Hightower in the parking lot. Hightower claimed the other man had instigated the fight over a seat on the boat. He reportedly admitted to striking him twice with his fist to get away. The alleged victim was transported to Southampton Hospital for a cut to his eye that required stitches, swelling and a bruise on his chest. Hightower was released on his own recognizance.

On Dec. 21, Joseph P. Brady Jr., 25, of East Hampton, was arrested on several charges released to a domestic dispute that occurred one day earlier in Springs. He was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and fourth-degree criminal mischief, both misdemeanors, and second-degree harassment, a violation. Rana released him on his own recognizance.

Paul G. Greenwood, 45, of East Hampton, was arrested on a drunken driving charge after an accident in Montauk on Dec. 22. Police found his 2009 Toyota about 30 feet into the woods off Montauk Highway and Upland Road at 3:50 a.m. He told police a deer ran out in front of him causing him to swerve off the road, hitting several small trees and bushes. Police said he appeared drunk and he was placed under arrest. Later the next morning, he was released on his own recognizance after arraignment before Justice Rana.
Adriana Duran, 33, of East Hampton, was charged with driving while ability impaired, a violation, and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, on Dec. 24 at about 5 a.m. Police reportedly saw Duran's Dodge mini-van swerving on Three Mile Harbor Road, near Copeces Lane, in Springs. A license check revealed her license had been suspended. She was released on a $100 appearance ticket.
Gave Fake Name at Accident
Flavio R. Zhinin, 22, of East Hampton, was arrested on charges of false personation and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors, after a car accident on Dec. 21. The other driver, Katherine Zamora of Montauk, was operating a 2000 Ford north on North Main Street in East Hampton when, she said, Zhinin's 2000 Volvo pulled out from in front of her at about 11:35 a.m. The airbags in both cars deployed. Zhinin reportedly gave a false name to police, as his driver's license had been suspended. Manuel Criollo-Campoverde, the owner of the Volvo, was also issued a ticket for allowing Zhinin to drive the car. Zhinin is set to be arraigned on Jan. 18. He was released on $500 bail.
