Town Police Logs: Cop Saw DWI Accident in Amagansett

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

The following DWI arrests were released this week.

Dennis J. Farrell, 35, of Rockville Centre, was arrested on a DWI charge after an accident in Amagansett on Aug. 27 at about 6:10 p.m. Farrell told police he was traveling west on Montauk Highway in his 2001 BMW and looked down to answer his cellphone, when he struck a 2001 Chevrolet van, driven by Gustavo Coria for Ronald Webb Builders, near Napeague Meadow Road. The accident report did not indicate which way Coria was traveling. Coria later went to Southampton Hospital with pain on his left side and arm. Farrell submitted to a breath test that showed a .14 blood alcohol reading, police said. Lisa R. Rana released him on his own recognizance the next day.

Sean K. Bailey, 25, of West Orange, NJ, was also charged with drunken driving after an accident in Amagansett on Sunday at about 3 a.m. An officer on foot patrol reportedly witnessed the accident, where a 1999 Mercedes-Benz traveling west on Main Street slowed to pull over into a parking spot and was rear-ended by a 2011 Mercedes-Benz, driven by Bailey. The officer said Bailey appeared intoxicated and was arrested. The driver of the other car, Syed Rida Shoh, a driver for a Wainscott-based limo service, was not injured. Justice Catherine A. Cahill released Bailey on his own recognizance.

Manuel E. Puma-Munoz, 24, of East Hampton, was arrested on a DWI charge after he allegedly almost hit an officer's police car as he traveled on Old Stone Highway in Amagansett on Saturday at 4:15 a.m. Police said Puma-Munoz's 2000 Dodge also failed to signal before making a left onto Neck Path, where he was pulled over. Following his arrest, he refused a breath test three times. Justice Cahill released himon $500 bail later that day.

Devon R. Plachy, 22, of Amagansett, was arrested on a DWI charge in Montauk on Aug. 26 at about 2:30 a.m. Plncy was allegedly swerving on Montauk highway near Beech Street. Police said she appeared drunk and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. At headquarters, her blood alcohol level was .11. Justice Cahill released her on $250 bail.

Roger C. Valecillo, 42, of New York City, was driving drunk and without a suspended license in Montauk on Sunday, according to police. An officer saw a BMW speeding at 62 mph going west on Montauk Highway, near Upland Road, at about 4:20 a.m. The officer turned around and attempted to catch the BMW, but the driver turned "sharply left onto Lincoln Road without signaling and then turning right onto Hayes Road, again without signaling," a report said. A check showed his registration was suspended for parking summons on Aug. 12. Valecillo refused a breath test and released on $300 bail later the next morning.

Pedro S. Eliseo, 28, of East Hampton, was arrested on a drunk driving charge after a tipster reported an erratic driver in the vicinity of Spring Close Highway on Aug. 26 at 6:15 p.m. Police pulled Eliseo over in a 2000 Plymoth and spotted an open bottle of Modelo beer in the center console. He also appeared drunk and did not have a driver's license, police said. He was additionally charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third-degree, a misdemeanor, as his driving privileges had been suspended. Police said his blood alcohol was .13. Held overnight for arraignment, Justice Rana release him on $2,000 bail.
