There is never a shortage of police stories and like any newspaper, it's the most read section of East Hampton Patch.

Let's revisit some of the top 10 headlines from 2011 (in no particular order).

: Henry P. Lopez Gonzales, 27, walked into the precinct on April 1 to turn himself in, police said, claiming he had abused three children, each under 7-years-old, over a period of several months. There had been no open investigation. The man turned himself in after one of the victims disclosed the abuse to a family member. The case is still pending in Suffolk County Court.

: Headless and badly decomposed, the body that washed up on the shores of in Amagansett on May 22 still hasn't been identified, but the man's by divers in Gardiner's Bay in June.

: Fabian Mauricio Conce, who suffered head injuries when the SUV he was a passenger in , died April 21. Conco, 22, was thrown from the car traveling over 50 m.p.h. A 19-year-old friend friend was behind the wheel, but only had a learner's permit.

: Kerri Dewhirst, a Ronkonkoma woman, was accused of stealing over $400,000 in her capacity as a bookkeeper for in East Hampton. She was charged on May 26. She pleaded guilty on Oct. 14 to one count of second-degree grand larceny. Sentencing is set for Jan. 4.

: When Christopher S. Ward was sentenced to 2 to 6 years for setting fire to a house on Osborne Lane in East Hampton in 2010 (which led to the injuries of three firefighters), a homeowner told the judge he fears Ward will come back when he gets out.

: Paul S. Apostolides, 49, who owns in Montauk, was arrested on 10 felony and two misdemeanor charges related to the sexual assault of a child on Nov. 3. He was held on $150,000 bail following an arraignment in Suffolk County Criminal Court. He pleaded not guilty before Judge Barbara Kahn on Nov. 4. His case is still pending.

: Daniel L. Vargas, 26, was accused of drop-kicking and beating his 6-month-old boxer puppy in June. A felony animal cruelty charge against him was to a misdemeanor in August.

: Supermodel Bridget Hall was arrested in March in East Hampton for the second time in a year. This time, said Hall, 33, was driving with a suspended license as a result of a driving while intoxicated charge in 2010. Her reason? Taxis were too expense.

: A man drove into the pond in East Hampton Village where he was supposed to turn left onto Main Street on July 11. He only received minor injuries, but his car was halfway submerged.

: Two babies and two women were left unscathed or with minor injuries after the sport utility vehicle they were riding in rolled over on Montauk Highway at Stephen Hands Path on July 13.
