Two Car Accident Ties Up Traffic in Wainscott

Only one injury reported.

A two car pile-up on Montauk Highway in Wainscott left at least one with injuries on Monday afternoon.

The accident, involving two sport utility vehicles, left the last one, a Chevy, with major front-end damage. An elderly driver was being treated at the scene, across from , but didn't appear to have any major injuries. Fluids were leaking from the vehicle.

It appeared the Chevy rear-ended a minivan.

Another vehicle initially thought to be involved was a Toyota sport utility vehicle, which pulled into the Wainscott Post Office parking lot after the accident, was not actually involved. An occupant located in the Post Office lot was taken to Southampton Hospital.

The responded to cordon off a section of the eastbound lane, near the corner of Wainscott-Northwest Road.

A second ambulance stood-by at the firehouse, as it was initially believed there were more injuries.

A 911 call came in from La Capannina, where employees and customers said they heard a loud-bang when the accident occurred.

Correction: Only two cars were involved, not three as was initially reported.
