Teens Arrested After Allegedly Lighting a Marijuana-Filled Apple

Police said they caught the teenagers smoking in Herrick Park in East Hampton Village.

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• An 18-year-old boy and 16-year-old boy were arrested after police said they saw them lighting an apple that was filled with marijuana in Herrick Park on Nov. 22 at about 4:25 p.m. One teen allegedly admitted that it was marijuana in the apple. "I took the first hit and it's my weed," he told police, according to their report. However, the other said he wasn't smoking anything, but was trying "to clear out the apple." They were both taken into custody. The 18-year-old was charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the fifth-degree, a misdemeanor, and the younger boy was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. They were released and issued appearance tickets.
