10 Arrests were made following routine traffic violations.


Routine traffic patrols by the Town of Southampton Police yielded ten arrests during the week beginning July 15 and ending July 21. Three of the arrests were for outstanding bench warrants; one was for aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle, one was for criminal possession of a controlled substance, two arrests were for weapons, one for a suspended registration, one for drunk driving and one was for possession of marijuana.

Slavatore M. Biundo, 33, of Allentown, Pennsylvania was arrested on July 16 and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Three area residents were arrested by the Town of Southampton Police after failing to appear in court. They were: Juan Carlos Gonzalez, 20, of Medford, who was arrested on July 16; Cruz F. Japa, 27, of East Hampton who was arrested on July 17 and Janet Foster, 55, of North Babylon who was arrested on July 21.

The Southampton Town Police made an arrest for criminal possession of a controlled substance  on July 17 when Patricia A. Rumph, 29, of Hampton Bays was stopped for a uniformed traffic ticket violation at approximately 12:17 in the morning. She was allegedly found to be in possession of cocaine. She was processed and released after posting $150 bail. 

Two Long Island men were arrested on drugs and weapons charges following traffic violations. On July 17, at approximately 5:20 in the evening Chase M. Rao, 18, of Southampton was arrested for having marijuana and metal knuckles. He was processed and released after posting $500 bail. On July 19, at approximately 7:14 in the evening, Stephen M. Evers, 22, of Bellrose, was arrested after having been found to be in possession of a switch blade gravity knife and suboxone, a prescription medication used to treat opioid addiction. He was processed and released after posting $200 bail.

Roberto Diaz, 45, of Demarest, New Jersey, was arrested on July 18 following a uniform traffic violation when he was found to be driving with a suspended registration. Diaz’s 2004 Mercedes Benz was impounded.

Steven A. Waxman, 64, of Cinncinati, Ohio, was seen weaving out of his lane and stopped by the Southampton Town Police on July 19 at approximately 2:27 in the morning. Subsequently, it was determined that he was drunk. He was brought to the Southampton Town Police station, processed and arrested. Waxman was held overnight for morning arraignment. 

An arrest for marijuana possession was made on July 18, at approximately 9:28 p.m., when officers stopped Donald R. Broege, 44, of Calverton for a traffic violation. A subsequent investigation found marijuana in the driver's possession.
