Report: Amagansett Club Owner Was Ponzi Schemer's First Victim

Peter Honerkamp almost lost an eye when Nevin Shapiro punched him in 1995.

owner Peter Honerkamp recounted a violent brush with a Florida man convicted of running a $930 million Ponzi scheme last year, now accused of giving University of Miami players illegal gifts according to the Sun Sentinel.

Nevin Shapirois now serving 20 years on the Ponzi scheme, but the latest controversy is that he allegedly bought favor with athletes.

Over 15 years ago, Honerkamp recalled the night he almost lost an eye when when Shapiro, who was trying to sneak into the Stephen Talkhouse club Honerkamp owned in South Beach, punched him.
