Range Rover, MacBook, and $22k Go Missing

Several thefts reported around the Town of East Hampton in recent weeks.

East Hampon Town police released the following incident reports this past week:

• An Amagansett business owner reported $22,700 stolen from his house while he was sleeping on the night of June 23 and the morning of June 24. He woke up around 4:30 a.m. and noticed the bags the money were in were missing from his bedroom. Detectives are investigating.

• Police said a Wainscott woman reported a 2012 black Range Rover stolen from her driveway on Two Rod Highway on the night of June 28. She said the keys were left in the cup holder and the vehicle was unlocked. She said it disappeared sometime between 10 p.m. and 7:10 a.m. on June 29. Police did not provide a value of the vehicle.

• THree checks were taken out of a checkbook that was sitting on a counter at an Accabonac Road house in East Hampton between June 5 and 6 and two of those checks were cashed to the tune of $1,120. The victim said a hot water heater was installed at his house on June 5.

• A 15-inch Apple MacBook Pro laptop computer was stolen from a house on Robin's Way in East Hampton between June 23 and June 29. Detectives are investigating.

• After finding the garage door four inches open on June 26 at 10 p.m., an Island Road resident called police. Nothing appeared to be taken from the house, but the East Hampton woman wanted to filed a report two days later.

• An engagement ring and wedding band went missing from a jewelry box at a Montauk Boulevard house on June 24. The owner waited until the next day to call police because she was upset, a police report said. The rings were worth a total of about $3,000.

• A dock box with boating supplies, worth about $1,000, was taken between May 1 and May 5 from East Lake Marina in Montauk.

• Worth $85, a black leather backpack was reportedly taken from a parked car on Montauk Highway, near the west end of The Plaza, on June 15. The owner, a New York City woman, told police the next day that the car had been left unlocked and that windows were rolled down when she left the car around 1:45 p.m.

• On June 17, an East Hampton woman reported her 2013 sticker permit for the East Hampton Town Recycling Center was stolen from her car while it was parked on Maidstone Park Road on May 27. The value is $100.

• A Montauk woman found te rear windshield on her 2013 Dodge smashed and a rock in the back seat on June 8 at around 10 p.m. The car was parked in her driveway on Davis Drive. The damage will cost $478 to repair, according to the report.

• Prescription pills, $60 in cash, and binoculars were reported stolen from an East Hampton man's car while he was camping at Gin Beach in Montauk on June 17. However, he told police he hadn't seen his pills since June 14 when he was fishing on Gann Road. The theft may have happened at either locations or at his house.
