Police Still Investigating Route 114 Fatal Crash

Other driver remains hospitalized one week and a half after the accident.

Exactly what caused the driver of a , killing another driver, is still under investigation.

Detective Lt. Chris Anderson confirmed on Tuesday that no charges have been filed against Brian K. Midgett Jr., 20, of East Hampton.

Midgett remains hospitalized at Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was airlifted after the crash. He is listed in good condition, according to the Department of Media Relations.

Anderson would not elaborate further on the ongoing investigation.

Douglas Foster Schneiderman, a 51-year-old developer from Mclean, VA, was killed when Midgett's 1996 Ford pick-up truck hit his Volvo on Route 114, near South Breeze Drive, on July 29 just after 12:30 p.m.

Schneiderman and his family were visiting the South Fork on vacation.

His wife Elisabeth Schneiderman, also 51, and Rachael Schneiderman, 16, suffered serious injuries in the crash. According to Southampton Hospital records, they were released on Aug. 1, two days before their husband and father was in Virginia.

He is also survived by another daughter Isabelle and step-daughter Victoria Kouri and her son Cameron Kouri, as well as his mother, Sandra Schneiderman, his father, Milton Schneiderman, his step-mother, Karen Schneiderman, and his sisters Lisa Penberthy, Abby Schneiderman and Jessica Schneiderman.
