Police: Missing Man Reunited with Family After 7 Years

The Southampton Town Police have reunited a man reported as missing from Waterbury, Connecticut more than seven years ago, with his family.

On July 10, Southampton Town Police Officer Sherakhan Parker had just come on duty, when he received a report that a homeless man was walking along Montauk Highway near the Village of Quogue. Parker found the man in Quogue, who was hungry and thirsty, and took him to a store where he bought him something drink and eat.

Parker learned the man’s name was Euripede Cruz, and that he was 60 years old. He then radioed for assistance from the Quogue Village Police and Officer Theodore Richert arrived and stayed with Cruz while Officer Parker continued his investigations.

Parker did an online search for Mr. Cruz and discovered he had been reported missing in 2008 from Waterbury, Connecticut. He then contacted the Waterbury Police Department and spoke with detectives who provided him with a family contact.

He placed a telephone call to the Cruz family and advised them of Euripede Cruz’s whereabouts. Parker then returned to Cruz and brought him to the Quogue Police headquarters where Cruz was made comfortable until his sister, Blanca Cruz, of Waterbury, arrived.
