Police Logs: Village Man Arrested for Allegedly Attacking Girlfriend

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

The East Hampton Village Police Department released the following reports for the week of Feb. 13. The East Hampton Town police did not report any misdemeanor or felony arrests.

• Jorge G. Castillo, 29, was arrested two days after allegedly choking his girlfriend with a towel during an argument at his house on Newtown Lane in East Hampton Village, said.  The woman was able to get away and filed charges on Feb. 6 after she retreated to a friend's house. Castillo was initially charged with second-degree harassment, a violation, but police said he would be additionally charged with criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation, a misdemeanor. Lisa R. Rana arraigned Castillo and released him on $300 bail. An order of protection was issued for the victim and police logged that they checked his home and car for any knives that were not work related.
