The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Town Police Department in the Dec. 30 packet. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.
• Nicholas Kraus, 41, of Springs, was arrested on a drunken driving charge on Saturday at about 3:40 a.m. Police said they observed Kraus on Abraham's Path, near the intersection of Springs Fireplace Road, with a defective passenger brake lamp. When he was pulled over at about 3:15 a.m., he appeared intoxicated, police said. He failed all field sobriety tests and was placed under arrested. At police headquarters, he refused to take a chemical test. Charged with two misdemeanors — driving while intoxicated and driving while ability impaired by a combination of drugs and alcohol — he was released on his own recognizance later that morning.
