Police Logs: Repeat Drunken Driver Charged with Felony

The following information was supplied by the for the week of June 18. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• , 23, of East Hampton, is being held on $50,000 cash or $100,000 bond at the Suffolk County jail in Riverside, following his arrest on charges of felony driving while intoxicated, driving without an Interlock ignition device, and with a suspended license. Police said he hit a tree in a 2000 Toyota on Spring Close Highway, near Montauk Highway, on June 3 at about 12:10 a.m. When police arrived, he was outside the car, but the keys were still in the ignition and the engine was running. Police found that his license had been revoked on Jan. 12, 2012, for aggravated DWI and had not been restored. Neither Tacuri or the passenger, Luis Jarama-Zhinin, the registered owner, were injured.

Burglary Alleged

• Cynthia L. Nicholson, 45, of East Hampton, was released on $10,000 bail after she was charged with second-degree burglary, a felony, on June 12. The detective division investigated a report of a burglary on March 8 at a house on Abraham's Path in Amagansett. Nicholson was brought in for an interview and arrested. No further information was available.

Beer in Hand, Coke in Pocket

• Felipe Marin, 21, of Montauk, was charged with drug possession on Monday morning after police stopped him in the Montauk precinct parking lot on South Embassy Street for carrying an open bottle of Corona beer. The officer also smelled marijuana on him. As Marin was emptying his pockets, he threw a plastic ZipLock baggy, with a green leafy substance, in it to the ground. Police took him into the precinct and while conducting a search, they found a small orange glassine envelope with a white powdery substance in his coin pocket of his pants. The substances field tested positive for marijuana and cocaine. He was charged with seventh-degree possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. He was released on $100 station house bail.

Trespassing on Boat Charge

• Three young men — 22, 21, and 19-year olds from East Hampton — were arrested on criminal trespass charges after they were found on a shrink-wrapped boat inside a storage facility on Three Mile Harbor Road in East Hampton on June 11. They were charged with misdemeanors and will be arrainged in East Hampton Town Justice Court at a later date.

Long DWI List

• Martin M. Gomez-Velasco, 26, of Brooklyn, was also arrested for alleged drunken driving. Police in Montauk said he was speeding and failed to stop at a stop sign on South Edgemere Street at about 4:55 p.m. Inside the car, police found beer, including an open bottle of Stella. He allegedly provided police a license that was not his. He was charged with aggravated DWI and second-degree criminal impersonation, a misdemeanor. Justice Cahill released him on $1,000 bail.

• Carlos Nieves, 24, of East Hampton, was charged with driving while intoxicated after he struck the curb on North Main Street, near Talmage Lane, on June 9 at about 2:40 p.m. As Nieves got out of the 2002 Dodge pick-up he was driving, he almost fell in front of police. "The defendant appeared to be trying to flee the scene, [the undersigned officer] grabbed the defendant and escorted him back and positioned him in front of the police vehicle to perform a field sobriety test," the police report said. Justice Cahill released him on his own recognizance.

• Mariano J. Lepori, 23, of Montevallo, AL, was arrested on a charge of driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, on June 13 in Montauk. Police said he was driving around The Plaza in a 2008 Honda when he failed to signal. He appeared drunk and was arrested at 3:50 a.m. East Hampton Town Justice Catherine A. Cahill released him on $500 bail after arraignment.

• Megan N. Butler, 21, of Sag Harbor, was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated on Sunday in Montauk. Police said she did not immediately pull over in the 2005 Mercury Mountaineer she was driving on Montauk Highway, near West Lake Drive, at about 3:15 a.m. She was released later that morning on her own recognizance.

• Jaymes R. Westfall, 24, of New York City, was arrested on charges of DWI and unlawful possession of marijuana on Saturday at about 2 a.m. Driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee, he was reportedly impeding the flow of traffic on South Edison Avenue, near South Emerson Avenue, and was pulled over. He appeared drunk and was taken into custody. A small amount of marijuana was found in his possession during a search. He was released on his own recognizance later that morning.

• Amber E. Gregg, 22, of Bridgehampton, was arrested on a charge of DWI after police saw her car was stopped for an entire light cycle at the green light on Route 114 and Stephen Hands Path in East Hampton on June 15 at about 4:15 a.m. She then ran a red light, after briefly stopping in the middle of the intersection, according to police. East Hampton Town Justice Lisa R. Rana released her on $300 bail later that morning.

• An 18-year-old girl was arrested on a drunken driving charge after police pulled her over for swerving on Daniel Hole Road, near Industrial Road, in Wainscott on June 12 at about 2:40 a.m. She was held for arraignment in the morning and Justice Rana released her on $350 bail.
