Police Logs: Man Held without Bail on Felony DWI Charge

East Hampton Town police report two drunken driving arrests last week.

The following information was supplied by the on Friday. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Gary D. Rea, 44, of East Hampton, was held without bail following his arrest on a felony driving while intoxicated charge on June 26. Rea, who was previously convicted of a DWI within the past 10 years, was pulled over on Three Mile Harbor Road, near Copeces Lane, at about 12:15 a.m., when police said they saw him swerve in a 1999 Ford. His car was impounded due to the prior conviction in 2005.

• Seth H. Grossman, 44, of New York City, NY, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge on June 27 in Amagansett. Police said they saw him make an illegal U-turn from the westbound shoulder of Montauk Highway into the eastbound lane. "The vehicle hen accelerated to a speed of 60mph verifie by the speedometer" on the police unit, police said in the arrest report. Near Bunker Hill Road, the vehicle began to swerve, and police pulled him over near Cranberry Hole Road, at about 1:30 a.m. He was released later that morning on $400 bail.
