Police Logs: Man Allegedly Touched Shagwong Patron's Buttocks

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Wayne Smith, 42, of Riverhead, was arrested on a charge of forcible touching, which is a misdemeanor, at the Shagwong restaurant in Montauk on April 9. Police were called there at about 9:30 p.m. for an alleged dispute. Employees told police that Smith "grabbed the buttocks of a female patron" at the bar, and when Smith went to leave, the boyfriend of the woman had an altercation. The woman was visibly upset, police said, and wished to press charges. Held overnight, he was released on $200 bail the next day.

• Matthew D. Santich, 51, was arrested in his Montauk home on April 6 after an alleged domestic dispute. He was charged with second-degree strangulation, a felony, fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation. No further information was released. Justice Cahill released him on $2,000 bail.

• Gene E. LaMonda, 40, of East Hampton, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI offense in Springs on April 10. Police said they saw LaMonda's work van heading north on Springs Fireplace Road, near Woodbine Drive, speeding at about 40 mph at about 12:55 a.m. It also had no working rear license plate lamps. Police following him as he turned onto Gardiner's Avenue and then onto 10th Street, parking at the end of the street with his lights off. Police questioned him and they said he appeared intoxicated. He failed all field sobriety tests, and was taken into custody. Justice Cahill released him on his own recognizance.

• Damien A. Roman, 39, of East Hampton, was also charged with misdemeanor DWI in Springs. On April 12 at about 1:40 a.m., police saw a 2012 Volkswagen swerving as it headed south on Three Mile Harbor-Hog Creek Road, near Woodbine Drive. The driver was pulled over near Boatyard Drive, police said, and he appeared intoxicated. He reportedly performed poorly on all field sobriety tests. Justice Cahill released him on $500 bail.

• Nelson G. Sanmartin Prado, 31, of East Hampton, was arrested after he was allegedly driving drunk with a suspended license. Police spotted a 2006 BMW on Abrahams Path, near Birdie Lane, speeding at about 2:45 a.m. The driver also failed to signal his right turn onto Springs Fireplace Road, and was stopped near Shadom Lane. Police said when they asked him to step out of the vehicle, he exhibited such poor balance that he officer had to hold him up with both hands so that he would not fall. Police discovered that his license had been suspended eight times — some related to a previous charge of driving while ability impaired by alcohol. He was charged with misdemeanor DWI and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony. The defendant was turned over to the Suffolk County Sheriff's office.

• Felix A. Serna-Quintero, 29, of East Hampton, was arrested on a misdemeanor aggravated DWI charge on Monday at about 2 a.m. Police said the 2000 Dodge pick-up truck he was driving swerved several times on Springs Fireplace Road, between Queens Lane and West Drive. Police initiated a traffic stop, but he pulled into a driveway. Police said he seemed drunk, and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. His blood alcohol level was estimated to be above .18, leading to the aggravated DWI charge. Later that morning, Justice Lisa R. Rana released him on his own recognizance.
