Police Logs: Drunken Driver Arrested, More Copper Stolen

Also: Homeless found sleeping in train station.

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Town and Village police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt. The following was released for the week of Feb. 27:

Logs:

• arrested Charles G. Waller, 57, of East Hampton, on a charge of driving while intoxicated on Feb. 21. Police said he was swerving over the double yellow line and then onto the grass on Springs Fireplace Road, near Fort Pond Boulevard, in Springs at about 6:30 p.m. After his arrest, he was held overnight. Lisa R. Rana arraigned him the next day and released him on his own recognizance.

Incidents:

• Four copper drain pipes were reported stolen from a house under construction on Further Lane in East Hampton sometime between Jan. 29 and Feb. 19. Town police were given an estimate of $5,400 to replace the pipes.

• Just over $7,000 in copper gutters were stolen from a house on Ocean View Lane in Amagansett between Feb. 13 and 19. The homeowner noticed several feet sections of the gutters gone on the back and side of the house.

• An Acer 32-inch flat screen LCD television was reported stolen from a house on Longbent Lane in East Hampton. The homeowner said the theft occurred between Feb. 10 and 20. He said it was worth about $350.

• A Honda mini bike, worth $500, was stolen from inside a work shed and a Yamaha outboard motor, worth $400, were reported stolen from a boat at earlier this month. The theft was not reported until Feb. 22.

• Two people who said they were homeless were found sleeping in the train station house on Railroad Avenue in East Hampton Village on Feb. 22 at 11:30 a.m. They told the they go to Maureen's Haven at night, but had no place to go during the day.

•A woman reported her Madewell handbag had been stolen from the women's restroom at the on Feb. 22. She said she had left her bag in there by accident and when she realized it, the bag was already gone.
