Police Logs: Driver's License Suspended 19 Times, Cops Say

Police say the Centereach man also had drugs on him at the time of his arrest.

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Town Police Department on July 8. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Police said a 26-year-old Centereach man, who was reportedly tailgating in Amagansett on July 4, had his license suspended 19 times and was driving with drugs in the car.

According to police, they followed the man as he tailgated, drove onto the shoulder and then back into his lane, throwing something out of the window into the middle of Montauk Highway at about 6:15 p.m. He was stopped, police then realized he was driving on a flat tire and the vehicle's inspection sticker had expired in January.

Police said he appeared nervous, and they asked him to step out of the vehicle. He started to walk away from the officer, and reached into the pocket of his pants. Police restrained him in handcuffs as a precaution, they said in the report.

Two marked packages of Suboxone were located in his underwear, according to police. A check with the Department of Motor Vehicles revealed his license was suspended 19 times.

He was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree aggravated unlicensed of a motor vehicle, both misdemeanors. Police released him on a $250 appearance ticket.

A 35-year-old Southampton man was pulled over and found to be driving with a suspended license after he gave a fake name, according to police. On July 11 at about 7:45 a.m., police were on patrol on Springs Fireplace Road in East Hampton when their license plate reader alerted them to a driver want on a bench warrant in a 2002 Chevrolet. When pulled over over, the driver gave a fake name and age, police said. However, his wallet had a credit card with his real name. Not only was his license suspended in January 2012, but he was also wanted by State Police. Charged with false personation and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor, he was arraigned and bail was set at $500. He was then turned over to the State Police.

• An 80-year-old Amaganstt woman was arrested on a misdemeanor driving while intoxicated charge on July 3, police said this week. Police said Susan P. Gullia was driving erratically on Pantigo Road, near Amy's Lane, in a Mercedes Benz at about 9:30 p.m. Held overnight, she was arraigned and released on her own recognizance.

• A 23-year-old Springs woman was arrested on a fourth-degree criminal mischief charge, a misdemeanor, on July 8 at about 1 p.m. According to police, the woman's brother called police after they argued and she broke the window on her father's 2009 Honda with a golf club. Held overnight, Justice Catherine A. Cahill released her on $150 bail.

• Rodrigo C. Tasca, 27, of Hampton Bays, was arrested on charges of misdemeanor DWI and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation, in Amagansett on July 8 at about 2:20 a.m. Police said they received a report of a possible drunken driver headed west on Montauk Highway, and located the vehicle near Cranberry Hole Road. The officer followed the vehicle and said it crossed over the center double line several times. Pulled over near Bunker Hill Road, the driver appeared intoxicated, they said. In addition, police said a search of the vehicle revealed a small plastic bag containing a green leafy substance that later tested positive for marijuana. Justice Cahill released him on $350 bail.

• Tess B. Ramirez, 21, of New York City, was arrested on a drunken driving charge after an accident in Amagansett on July 4 at about 1:50 a.m. According to police, Ramirez's 2011 Honda pulled out of a parking space into the westbound lane of Montauk Highway, sideswiping a 2009 Honda at about 8:15 p.m. No one was hurt. Ramirez was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, and released on her own recognizance.

• Frederick J. Windisch, 64 of East Hampton, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI on July 6 at about 11:10 p.m. Police said that a Chevrolet sport utility vehicle failed to maintain his lane and drove onto a grassy shoulder on Abraham's Path, near Old Stone Highway, at 10:55 p.m. He was pulled over on Red Dirt Road, and he appeared intoxicated, police said. Held overnight, he was released on $300 bail.

• Manuel I. Xol Mo, 35, of East Hampton, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge in Wainscott on June 28, police said this week. Police said they saw him fail to maintain his lane on Stephen Hands Path, near Montauk Highway, t about 2:05 a.m. Once pulled over, police said he appeared intoxicated. An open can of Modelo beer was found behind the passenger seat. Later that day, Justice Cahill released him on $350 bail.

• James D. Stanton, 60, of New York City, was arrested on a drunken driving charge after he failed to dim his high beams on Montauk Highway, near Daniel's Hole Road, in Wainscott on July 6 at about 10:50 p.m. Police said he was driving a 2013 Audi. Justice Cahill arraigned him on a misdemeanor DWI charge and released him on $500 bail.

• Robert Chitel, 70, of East Hampton, was also charged with misdemeanor DWI on July 7. Police received word about a gold 2012 Mercedes driving erratically on Springy Banks Road when they saw him driving at about 12:15 a.m. Following is arrest, he was released on $500 bail.

• Stephanie Wade, 44, of East Hampton, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI on July 6 at about 3:55 a.m. Police said Wade was driving a 2012 Fiat south on Route 114, near Swamp Road, at about 60 mph in a 45 mph zone, police said. Police said she performed poorly on field sobriety tests, and was placed under arrest at 4:20 a.m. Justice Cahill released her on $350 bail following arraignment later that morning.

• Wojchiech M. Gil, 27, of Ronkonkoma, was also charged with misdemeanor DWI on July 5 in Montauk at about 2:10 a.m. Police said he was driving west on Montauk Highway, near Old Montauk Highway, when he failed to maintain his lane and crossed over the double yellow line four times. Justice Rana released him on $300 bail later that morning.

• Police also arrested Alejo N. Lopez, 45, of Seattle, Wash., on a misdemeanor DWI charge on June 27 at about 1 a.m., they said this week. According to a police report, a 2001 Ford van crossed over into the shoulder and across the double yellow line several times on Montauk Highway, near Abraham's Path, on June 26 at about 11:50 p.m. Police said he appeared intoxicated. Justice Cahill released him on $350 bail.

• Grace M. Boitini, 21, of East Hampton, was arrested on a driving while ability impaired charge, which is a violation, on July 6. Police said that a 2006 Kia failed to maintain her lane while heading west on Montauk Highway at about 11:05 p.m. Police said she was intoxicated, and charged her with DWAI at 11:20 p.m. She was released on her own recognizance.
