Police Logs: Damaged Gas Pump, Bar Fight Leads to Arrests in Montauk

East Hampton Town police stayed busy over the Fourth of July week.

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Christopher Fallon, 26, of Montauk, was arrested on a felony third-degree criminal mischief charge after police said he intentionally damaged a gas pump at Empire Gas Station in Montauk on July 7 at about 5 a.m.  Fallon was arrested at the nearby 7-Eleven at 5:36 a.m.  He was held for arraignment.

Man Couldn't Walk Away

• A 23-year-old Howard Beach man allegedly resisted arrest after police were called to the Point Bar and Grill in Montauk for a fight on July 7. When officers arrived, they saw the man being escorted out of the bar. Once on the sidewalk, they said he continued to yell and tried to go back into the bar several times. Police asked him to leave the area, but he refused. While being placed under arrest on a second-degree harassment charge, he flailed his arms and tried to get away, police said. One officer "was able to muscle one arm behind his back and get a cuff on while continually instructing the subject with loud verbal commands to stop resisting arrest," the arrest report said. In addition to the harassment charge, which is a violation, he was charged with resisting arrest, a misdemeanor. The defendant was released on his own recognizance.

DWIs Over Holiday Week

• Ilana E. Scheinblum, 32, of New York City, was arrested after police said she left an accident, which injured her passenger, in Amagansett on July 3 at about 2:20 a.m. Police said they arrived at Skimhampton Road, near Cross Highway, to find a 2001 BMW had hit a telephone pole and a man was laying on the ground near the vehicle with blood coming from his eye. He told police the name of the driver, and police canvassed the area to look for her. The Amagansett Fire Department ambulance transported the passenger to Southampton Hospital.

Scheinblum was found on Indian Wells Highway, across from the Mobile gas station, at about 2:40 a.m. She appeared drunk and performed poorly on all field sobriety tests, police said. She was placed under arrest at 3:05 a.m. The BMW, which had front-end damage and air bag deployment, was impounded.

At about 4:45 a.m., she was taken to Southampton Hospital after complaining of an anxiety attack. She was treated and released back into police custody. She was arraigned in East Hampton Town Justice Court on a misdemeanor DWI charge, and released on her own recognizance.

According to police, his license was suspended five times on four dates between May 2010 and March 2013 for various offenses in multiple courts throughout the state.

Roccanello was ultimately charged with misdemeanor DWI, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, also a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation. Following arraignment, he was released on $350 bail.

His blood alcohol level was .21, police said, which led to the elevated charge. While police were invoicing Dent's property, police found a glass jar in his backpack that contained a green leafy substance that later tested positive for marijuana, they said.

Police said she pulled her 2006 Mercury in front of the restaurant and opened her door where the smell of marijuana was distinct. The incident was reported to Assistant Principal Maria Mondini, who notified police, and together they approached the girl's vehicle, police said. Police asked to search her vehicle and found her wallet in the door with a small ZipLock bag of a white powder, a report said. Police did not disclose what the substance was, but she was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.
