Police Logs: Convicted Drunk Driver Held on Immigration Detainer After New Arrest

Genaro Sandoval, 31, of East Hampton, was arrested on a felony driving while intoxicated charge after police said he was driving with a blood alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit and with a suspended license on Thursday. He is now being held at Suffolk County jail in Riverside on a detainer from the Bureau of Immigration and Enforcement Control.

Police said they found Sandoval after he tried to back unsafely into a driveway on Edwards Avenue, near Royal Street, in East Hampton at about 1 a.m. Sandoval had a previous DWI conviction within the past 10 years, police indicated on the report.

He was charged with aggravated DWI as a felony and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Lisa R. Rana also set bail at $5,000.

Rian J. White, 56, of Springs, was arrested on drunken driving and marijuana possession charges following an accident on Three Mile Harbor Road in Springs on Thursday. Police said a witness saw a 1992 Honda two-door car go off the road, near Washington Avenue, and strike a street sign at about 9 p.m. The witness provided a license plate number.

Police found the car in front of a house on Fanning Avenue with White behind the wheel. He appeared drunk and had a difficult time completely the field sobriety tests, police said. While searching him, an officer said he found a wooden pipe with marijuana residue and a "nugget of a green leafy substance which later tested positive for the presence of marijuana." Police said his blood alcohol level was .09.

White was charged with misdemeanor DWI and unlawful possession of marijuana and leaving the scene of an accident, both violations. Justice Rana released White on his own recognizance the next day.

Donald A. Henning, 62, of New York City, was arrested on suspicion of DWI on the morning of Aug. 16. Police said they saw a 2005 Lexus slow down on Springs-Fireplace Road at Abraham's Path, then accelerate rapidly swerving into the opposite lane of traffic at about 9:25 a.m. Henning then allegedly made a wide right turn into the parking lot. He had difficulty pulling into a parking space and hit the curb with the front tires, according to police. He failed all field sobriety tests and his blood alcohol level measured .18, so he was charged with misdemeanor aggravated DWI, police said. Justice Rana released him on his own recognizance.

Daniel J. Zinn, 37, of Wainscott, was also charged with aggravated DWI on Sunday at about 4:30 a.m. Police spotted him swerving on Stephen Hands Path, near Buckskill Road, and pulled him over. He failed roadside sobriety tests and his blood alcohol level at headquarters was allegedly .20. Justice Catherine A. Cahill released him on $500 bail.

Bridgett A. Borg, 26, of New York City, was arrested and charged with DWI after police said she made an unsafe U-Turn on Montauk Highway and then drove in the oncoming lane on Sunday at about 2:30 a.m. She was pulled over after making a left into the . She appeared drunk and performed poorly on field sobriety tests. She refused to take a breath test. Justice Cahill released her on her own recognizance later that day.
