Police Logs: 5 Drunken Driving Arrests, 2 Accidents in the Village

East Hampton Village police say they charged five with driving while intoxicated over the holiday.

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

Amber Lea Gardner, 31, of Riverhead, was arrested on a felony driving while intoxicated charge on July 4 in East Hampton Village. Police said a 1998 Jeep rear-ended a 2013 BMW while it was stopped in traffic on Pantigo Road, near Egypt Lane, at about 6:45 p.m. Gardner told police she was slowing down when her foot slipped off the brake, a police report said. Police said she appeared intoxicated and admitted to drinking one beer. Her Jeep was impounded under Suffolk County seizure law. Neither the drivers or the passengers were hurt.

• Kaisi Mary Faithful, 40, of East Hampton, was arrested on a misdemeanor aggravated DWI charge on July 4 after she allegedly crashed her 2011 Ford into a pole and trees on Ocean Avenue, near Lilly Pond Lane, at about 10:20 p.m. She told police that she didn't know what happened, but she reportedly said she was drinking vodka. Her blood alcohol level was reportedly above .18, leading to the aggravated charge. She was not hurt in the accident, police said. The utility police was damaged.

• Cathy Ann Carron, 62, of New York City, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI on July 5 at 12:15 a.m. Police said they saw her 2006 Ford make a left from Main Street onto Dunemere Lane without a signal and then she sped off. They caught up to her as she made a right turn onto Further Lane, where she also reportedly drove at a high rate of speed. When they pulled her over, she appeared intoxicated, they said.

• Daniel Richard Ogara, 53, of Islip, was also arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI on July 5. An officer assigned to DWI enforcement saw his 2013 Mini going 44 mph in a 30 mph zone and cross over the solid white line into the shoulder on Montauk Highway at about 2:05 a.m. Police stopped him near Jericho Road, and appeared intoxicated, they said.

• Michael Anthony Herd, 25, of Tyler, Tx., was arrested on a drunken driving charge on July 5 at about 2:50 a.m. Police said his 2013 GMC crossed the double yellow line twice and the white solid line into the shoulder three times while he drove on Montauk Highway. He was stopped at Stephen Hands Path at about 2:30 a.m. Police said he appeared intoxicated and that he admitted to drinking three beers.
