Police Logs: 2 Drug Arrests in 1 Week for Springs Man

Also this week: Several DWI charges handed out in East Hampton Village.

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Village Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• James P. Fabrizio, 22, of Springs, was arrested twice within four days on drug charges in East Hampton Village.

The first arrest was on June 3, after police received several complaints about a man trying to sell drugs in the village. Police patrolling the area said they saw Fabrizio, who fit the description given, trying to hitchhike on Newtown Lane, near Schenck Fuel's parking lot, at about 5 p.m.

Police spoke to him and he reportedly signed a consent to search form, leading police to find several bags of marijuana, a total weight of 3.25 ounces, along with a small bag of cocaine, they said. He was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, both misdemeanors. He was released on $750 bail.

On June 7, police were called to 55 Newtown Lane about a man "acting suspciousl and asking people about using drugs," the report said. Police found Fabrizio in front of the East Hampton Middle School at about 1 p.m. He allegedly smelled of marijuana, so the officer searched him and found a bag with marijuana in pocket. He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor, as the content of the bag weighed 53 grams, police said. He was released on $200 bail.

Fabrizio is due back in court on July 25.

• Michael F. Brennan, 24, of Manhasset, was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge, a misdemeanor, on June 4 at about 2:25 a.m. Police said they saw a 2010 Jeep Wrangler exit Georgica restaurant in Wainscott without regard for oncoming traffic on Montauk Highway. Police also said the Wrangler swerved near Stephen Hands Path. They followed the vehicle to Pantigo Road, where it was pulled over. The driver appeared intoxicated, and police charged him.

• Fabio Carvalho Salles, 32, of New York City, was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DWI and unlicensed operation on June 8 at about 1:45 a.m. According to police, Salles was speeding in a 2013 Mercedes on Main Street and didn't stop at a red light at the Newtown Lane intersection. When he was pulled over, police smelled alcohol and gave him field sobriety tests, which he failed. Police also said Salles was driving without a license, a violation. He was released on $100 bail.

• Henry R. Williams, 25, of New York City, was arrested on a DWI charge while driving on Main Street on June 9. Police said one of the headlights on his 2004 Volvo was out, and he was stopped in front of the Baker House. He appeared intoxicated, and allegedly admitted to drinking one Amstel Light beer.
