Police: Couple Arrested For Threatening East Hampton Synagogue


A divorced couple from Riverhead have been arrested for making multiple terrorist threats against the Jewish Center of the Hamptons in East Hampton it was reported in Newsday.


Following a joint investigation with the Suffolk County police and New York State Police the East Hampton Village Police arrested Asli Dincer, 44, and her ex-husband Melih Dincer, 31, when they landed at Kennedy Airport on Thursday night after a trip to Turkey. The two allegedly sent three emails using aliases to the Jewish Center of the Hamptons threatening to blow up the synagogue during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. The couple had been in Turkey since May 1.

According to The Sag Harbor Express the couple has been charged with making a threat, a felony, falsely reporting an incident in the first degree, a felony, menacing in the second degree, a misdemeanor, and conspiracy in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor.

The Dincers were arraigned and processed at the East Hampton Town Justice Court. Bail was set at $50,000 for each or a $250,000 bond. The accused did not make bail and remain in custody.
