Police: 11-Year-Old Boy Drowns in East Hampton Pool

Drowning Sunday evening in East Hampton, police say.


An 11-year-old boy from Brooklyn drowned in an East Hampton swimming pool on Saturday evening, according to a press release from East Hampton Town Police.

Police and ambulance volunteers responded to 508 Route 114 in East Hampton at 5:08 p.m. after receiving a 911 call, police said. 

The boy was unresponsive when found at the bottom of a private pool, police said. He was transported to Southampton Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. 

The death is being investigated, but foul play is not suspected, police said. 

The boy's name is being withheld until all family members have been notified, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to call investigators at 631-537-7575.
