A pick-up truck hit a female pedestrian on Sherwood Drive, off Underwood Drive, in Springs on Thursday morning.
The woman, whose name has not yet been released, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center with a possible head injury, according to Chief John Claflin, who responded to the accident along with two other chiefs and an ambulance.
Police and fire department officials were called at about 8:45 a.m. She was reportedly walking at the time of the accident.
He said the is still investigating the cause of the crash, though Claflin said it appeared that the driver of the pick-up truck was backing out of a driveway when it struck the woman.
"Still too soon to say what the extent of the injuries are," Claflin said.
This accident comes on the heals of , who was walking with friends along Old Stone Highway in Amagansett when he was struck by a cab on Saturday afternoon.
