No Charges Expected in Springs Bicyclist Accident

Bicyclist remains in critical condition.

Charges are not expected to be filed against an East Hampton woman who struck and seriously injured a bicyclist on Three Mile Harbor Road in Springs over the weekend, East Hampton Town police said.

Detective Lt. Chris Anderson said there have been no new developments in the case following the incident on Saturday, and he doesn't expect any charges to be filed. The bicyclist, Kathryn Jones, 58, of New York City remains listed in critical condition at Stony Brook University Hospital, where she was flown after the 12:25 p.m. accident.

Antemaria D. Katcher, 65, was behind the wheel of the 2006 Subaru station wagon, heading north. Jones was also bicycling northbound.

There is no shoulder on Three Mile Harbor, near Gann Road, Anderson said. "We may never be able to determine exactly what happened," he said.

The Subaru was impounded for a safety inspection.
