New Police Wheels Hitting the Road

Town police have a new decal design, as well as some new vehicles.

Police officers are getting a new ride.

To replace some of its older squad cars in the fleet, the East Hampton Town Police Department purchased four new police car models of the Ford Taurus, as the typical Crown Victoria police car isn't being made anymore.

The cars have all arrived and are being outfitted. The first of the new cars will be on the road soon. The others will be put into service over the next few months.

In addition to the different style of car, all of the new vehicles with have a newly designed decal.

You may have already spotted the more modern EHTPD decal on the road. A new sport utility vehicle — a Ford Explorer — used as a sergeant's vehicle, was put into service last week.

So what do you think of the new cars and the new design? Tell us in the comments below.

Like. But no the abbreviation EHTPD. Lame. There is room for the full spelling. Bad choice.

I don't know the "EHTPD" either. They should have spelled out "East Hampton Town" I first saw this new design at the St. Patrick's parade in Montauk and thought it was ugly.

Are they planning on doing a lot of ramming?

Getting pulled over by a Ford Taurus will be embarrassing.
