Mother and Child Airlifted After Accident in Sag Harbor

Minivan crashed into a pole on Brick Kiln Road Friday afternoon.

Two Medevac helicopters flew into Sag Harbor on Friday afternoon to airlift a mother and child after a minivan hit a telephone pole, fire officials said.

The accident occurred on Brick Kiln Road, near Pheasant Road, according to Sag Harbor Fire Department Second Assistant Chief Tom Gardella. The fire department was called at 2:08 p.m.

The Sag Harbor Volunteer Ambulance Corps requested Advanced Life Support to the scene, and for two helicopters to transport the mother and child to Stony Brook University Medical Center due to their serious injuries.

A man was also taken to Southampton Hospital with minor injuries.

There was only one car involved, Gardella said.

Southampton Town police were not immediately available for comment.
