Police: DWI Charge in Crash That Kills 84-Year-Old Woman 

An 84-year-old Central Islip woman was killed in a two-crash Sunday afternoon and the driver of the other vehicle now faces a DWI charge, police said. 

A Sayville teen is charged with DWI after he crashed his minivan into a utility pole in North Patchogue early Thursday morning, police said. 

Two passengers inside the 2012 Honda driven by Sean Feeley, 19, were treated at the hospital for minor injuries, police said. 

SCDA: Massapequa Man Guilty of Shooting Woman, Hiding Body 

A Massapequa man was found guilty of the 2010 murder of a North Amityville woman, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney's office. 

David Newbeck, 36, of Massapequa, was found guilty Wednesday of second-degree murder and first-degree hindering prosecution. He faces a minimum of 27 years behind bars. 

Video Emerges in Police 'Beating' of Westbury Man

A 20-year-old Westbury man claims that Nassau County police beat him when he attempted to record a cellphone video during a traffic stop last month, his attorneys said.

When undercover officers pulled Kyle Howell over in Westbury because of a cracked windshield on April 25, he cooperated with police, Howell said.

That’s when the routine incident turned ugly.

“They came out of the car, I gave them my information, they opened up the door and my paycheck started to fly out the door,” he said, according to CBS New York. “I went to go reach and the next thing you know, I got a knee to the face. And then the next thing I remember, I was in the hospital.” 

DA: Suffolk IT Commissioner Arrested For Official Misconduct

Donald Rodgers, Suffolk's County's commissioner of information technology, was arrested Thursday and charged with official misconduct and offering a false instrument for filing, according to District Attorney Thomas Spota. 

Rodgers, 60, is accused of failing to disclose his position as president of his own computer firm as well as the revenue his company earned in 2012, Spota said. 

DA: Oyster Bay Woman Sentenced in Animal Abuse Case

An Oyster Bay woman was sentenced Wednesday for failing to provide proper veterinary care for a severe injury suffered by her dog, Snowball, leading to amputation of one of the dog’s legs, authorities said.

Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice’s office said Shawanna Hughes, 37, was sentenced to 30 days in jail and three years probation, along with an order precluding her from owning animals for five years and an agreement to abide by spot checks by law enforcement. In addition, Hughes was also ordered to pay $200 in fines. 

Suffolk County Police say Alvaro Alfaro was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer heading south on Park Avenue in Greenlawn on Oct. 13 when his car struck a 1998 Dodge Neon at the intersection with Lantern Street at about 12:30 a.m.

Police: Patchogue Man Driving Drunk Flees Police in Stolen Car

A Patchogue man faces a slew of charges after he fled police in a stolen car Friday night, police said. 

John Miller, 38, was driving a 2011 Hyundai westbound on Route 25A in Rocky Point at 10:35 p.m. when he was observed by State Parks officers, who determined that the Hyundai had been stolen, Suffolk police said.
