Injured Man Airlifted in Sag Harbor After Falling Down Stairs

On Sunday afternoon, dogs and their owners at the Haven's Beach dog park in Sag Harbor were displaced when members of Sag Harbor's Fire Department asked them to clear the field so a helicopter could land.

Jim Horn, a 65-year veteran of the Sag Harbor Fire Department, said the Suffolk County Police helicopter had been called to airlift an injured North Haven man to Stony Brook Hospital. The name of the injured man, who hurt himself falling down a flight of stairs, has not yet been released.

The Suffolk County Police dispatched a helicopter to Haven's Beach which landed at approximately 3:15 p.m. in the middle of the community dog run next to the bay beach where sailboats and yachts dot the bay. The injured man was wheeled on a gurney by members of the Sag Harbor ambulance volunteers to the waiting helicopter, which then took off over the water.
