Incident Reports: Burglary in Progress Reported

A woman says she heard someone breaking the glass at Empire Gas Station in East Hampton on Monday.

Burglaries Reported

• East Hampton Town police responded to a burglary in progress on North Main Street, just outside the village, on Monday at about 1:25 a.m. A woman said she heard glass break and saw a man running north on North Main Street. Police found that a glass window at the had been shattered. Police searched the area and brought in a Suffolk County Sheriff's K-9 unit was brought in to canvas the area, but the suspect was no located. When the manager arrived, he didn't say whether any items had been taken, police said.

• A new lawn mower, still in the box, seed spreader and several tools, like shovels and hoses, were reported stolen from a garage on Addie Conklin Lane in East Hampton on April 23. A homeowner said they went missing April 11 and April 23 and were worth about $880.

Bicycle Taken from Library

• A red 7-speed bicycle was stolen from one of the bicycle stalls on the side of the Amagansett Library on April 30 at about 4 p.m. The owner said it had been out there for no more than 10 minutes. Police valued the bike at about $350.

Stakes Missing in the Village

• Michael Bouker of the East Hampton Village Highway Department reported on May 8 that about 100 stakes were taken down from the area of the bridge on Huntting Lane overnight. At $2.50 a piece, the village is out $250.
