Incident Logs: $7,000 in Jewelry Stolen

Plus, electronics and personal items stolen from cars just before Valentine's Day.

• A reported $7,000 in jewelry was stolen in a burglary on Accabonac Road in East Hampton on March 2. The victim reported an 18-karat yellow gold necklace and four white gold and blue sapphire ring with cubic zirconia were taken from her bedroom, where she had hidden it behind the headboard. Police said there was no sign of forced entry to her apartment. The victim told police the jewelry was over 40 years old and she could not estimate the value of each item.

• Three larcenies were reported from cars on Hand Lane in East Hampton on the night of Feb. 13. Sunglasses, a hands free cellphone device, an iPad, and business card holder were among the items reported stolen. The value was around $1,000.

• On Oak Lane in Amagansett,  a woman reported her new Coach bag and miscellaneous Valentine's Day cards and candy were stolen from her car on Feb. 13, as well. She estimated the value was around $600.

• A pool pump, pool cover and extension pole and brush were stolen from the back of the on West Lake Drive in Montauk on the night of Feb. 2. Edward Kenny told police the equipment and cover were worth $2,400. The incident may have been caught on video surveillance.

• A pink surfboard was reported stolen from South Fuller Street in Motauk on Feb. 25. It was described as having a floral design and yellow leash. It had been stored in the garage during a yard sale.

• A Hren Nurseries on Montauk Highway in East Hampton, a snow plow control was stolen out of a truck on Feb. 25. The truck, which was parked at the property that is for sale, was left unlocked. Jos A. Hren said it was worth $307.

• Robert Mulligan filed a police report after the East Hampton Town Ordinance Enforcement department notified him that five to six trees were cut or trimmed from the area south of Old Montauk Highway, across from Lee Court, in Montauk on Feb. 28. Mulligan, who is the president of the Montauk Beach Property Owners Association that oversees the property, said he didn't know who would have cut the trees.

• The gas cap door on a 1991 Mercedes-Benz was damaged while it was parked on Mako Lane in Amagansett between Feb. 3 and 26. The owner said it would cost $400 to fix deep scratches and dents in the paint.
