Fumes Spark Hazmat Scare at Southampton College

Unknown fumes reported at the Marine Biology Building.

Hazmat teams were called to Stony Brook Southampton College on Friday morning after unknown fumes and a leak were reported coming from the Marine Biology Building, according to chatter on the police radio. 

The Hazmat teams from East Hampton Town fire departments and the North Sea Fire Department have responded to the college. The Bridgehampton Fire Department is standing by at Southampton Fire Department's headquarters while those volunteers man a command post.

Brookhaven National Lab is reportedly sending a crew of six to the scene.

A Southampton Town police duty sergeant said the incident is under investigation and had no further information.
