Fire Departments Responding for Manorville Brush Fire

Five fire departments from the area are responding.

Five fire departments that serve the Town of East Hampton are in the process of responding to a brush fire in Manorville.

The East Hampton, Bridgehampton, Amagansett, Montauk and Springs fire departments were called out on a mutual aid request to respond with tankers and brush trucks.

Black smoke from the brush fire, which is reportedly on the northside of the Brookhaven National Lab, south of Middle Country Road in Manorville, can be seen as far east as Montauk Highway in Wainscott.

They will be staging at the Suffolk County Fire Academy in Yapank.

Suffolk County is under a fire weather warning until Monday at 8 p.m. The red flag is issued based on the little rain the area has had, how low the humidity is, and how strong the winds are.

"If something ignites, things are going to spread really quickly," East Hampton Town Fire Marshal David Browne said.
