East Hampton Town Police Officer Hurt in Crash Released from Hospital

Police Chief said Nathan Osborn lost a lot blood last week, but recuperating well at home.

The East Hampton Town police officer who was night is recuperating at home and is doing well, Police Chief Ed Ecker said on Tuesday. 

Officer Nathan Osborn was released from Southampton Hospital over the weekend after suffering head trauma when his squad car hit a tree on Wainscott-Northwest Road in Wainscott. Ecker told the East Hampton Town Board during its work session at on Tuesday that he paid Osborn a visit at home earlier that morning. 

"He really took a pretty good shot to the head," Ecker said. He said Osborn remains under doctor's care and will have sucheres removed on Wednesday. He had been in the intensive care unit and spent two days in the hospital.

"He lost a lot of blood and that just adds to his rehabilitation," Ecker said before the meeting. "He's doing a lot better." 

It is not clear when the officer will return to work.
