UPDATE 3: Man Undergoes Surgery for Gunshot Wound, Cops Say

Investigation is continuing into what happened at a house in East Hampton on Thursday night.

Update, Friday, 2:15 p.m.: Captain Mike Sarlo identified the shooting victim as Frederic Stephens Jr., 20, of East Hampton. He underwent surgery for his injuries at Stony Brook University Hospital on Friday. No further information on his condition is available at this time. 

Police said, in a statement released on Friday afternoon, that "Suspects are being sought and the investigation is ongoing." 

Update, Friday, 11 a.m.: East Hampton Town police released a statement confirming that they are investigating an incident that took place at 154 Springs-Fireplace Rd. in East Hampton on Thursday at about 8:30 p.m.

"One male subject was the apparent victim of a single gunshot wound to the arm/torso area," the statement said. "The subject was transported by private vehicle to , then transferred to Stony Brook University Hospital where he was admitted and is being treated for his injuries." 

The house at 154 Springs-Fireplace Road was still surrounded by police tape on Friday morning. Two police officers were stationed out front. Two residents of the house arrived and police retrieved personal items for them out of the house at about 10 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call East Hampton Town Police Department Detectives at 537-6989. No arrests have been made. 

Update, Thursday, 10:15 p.m.: East Hampton Town police are leaving Southampton Hospital to follow an ambulance, transporting a patient involved in the car chase, to Stony Brook University Medical Center.

East Hampton police are investigating an alleged shooting that led to an apparent pursuit ending at Southampton Hospital on Thursday evening.

Police confirmed on the radio a chase was taking place on Montauk Highway in Water Mill at around 8:45 p.m., amidst heavy pre-Memorial Day weekend traffic.

Police asked for spike strips to be laid out across the highway to stop a Hyundai Elantra by the Princess Diner in Southampton, but they didn't appear to be used. 

The shooting victim was believed to be in the car and police notified emergency personnel. Southampton Village police responded there, as well.

It was unclear where the alleged shooting took place.

The victim is being transferred to Stony Brook University Medical Center.

and departments are investigating. Detectives and extra officers were called in.

Police responded to a house on Sherwood Lane in Springs and they are investigating on Springs-Fireplace Road, near Queens Lane, in East Hampton. State Police K-9 units were called to the area.
