East Hampton, Amagansett Fire Departments Called To Water Mill Blaze

Firefighters from East Hampton Town head to Woodthrush Lane blaze.

The East Hampton and Amagansett fire department are responding to a large house fire in Water Mill on Tuesday afternoon.

The East Hampton fire departments are just two of several departments that have been called to Woodthrush Lane in Water Mill over the past two hours.

The house on Woodthrush was reportedly struck by lightning, during the thunderstorm at about 2 p.m., though that could not be confirmed immediately. The fire seemed to be under control, and then flames were reported through the roof at about 3:30 p.m.

The North Sea Fire Department, whose jurisdiction the blaze is in, immediately called for help from the Sag Harbor and Southampton fire departments.

Sag Harbor's tanker and pumper went to the house, located at 68 Woodthrush Lane. Southampton Fire Department also responded with an engine and tanker. The Bridgehampton Fire Department was called to stand-by at North Sea Fire Department's firehouse.

At about 4 p.m., Bridgehampton Fire Department's rehab vehicle was requested to the scene of the fire to help check firefighters out.

Just yesterday, Inlet Seafood Restaurant in Montauk was struck by lightning, causing minor damage to the building.

No further details were immediately available.
