Driver Airlifted To Stony Brook After Accident Monday Night

A single-car accident on Hands Creek Road late Monday night left the driver pinned in the vehicle.

The East Hampton Fire Department's heavy rescue squad responded to extricate the man at around midnight. The effort took about 30 minutes, and then he was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital.

The car reportedly struck a pole on Hands Creek Road, at the corner of Atlantic Street, around 11:50 p.m.

Two ambulances from the East Hampton Volunteer Ambulance Association responded. One patient was taken to Southampton Hospital. East Hampton Town police were also on hand.

A Medevac helicopter landed at East Hampton Airport.
