Dombkowski Claims Victory in Bridgehampton Commish Race

In a 138-to-118 vote, appointed commissioner gets to keep his seat.

In a race separated by only 20 votes, Tom Dombkowski won a two-year seat on the Bridgehampton Fire District Board of Commissioners on Tuesday night.

The vote was 138-to-118 in favor of Dombkwoski, a longtime Bridgehampton Fire Department firefighter, over his opponent Philip Cammann.

Dombkwoski was appointed to the board in September to fill a vacancy left by John Muse, who resigned. Muse had another two years before his term was up.

Cammann, the department's only volunteer who is a paramedic, was making his second bid for the position.

The race drew a total of 272 voters, according to Courtney Dombkwoski, Tom Dombkowski's daughter who stayed to hear the results that took over an hour to be counted.
