Crimes Nearby: Two East Hampton Teens Allegedly Stole Pup from Shop

The following were reported arrests this week on nearby Patch sites.

SOUTHAMPTON 

• Gary J. Vigilant, 46, of Southampton, was arrested Jan. 29 at 12:50 p.m. at Kmart at the Bridgehampton Commons and charged with petty larceny, a misdemeanor. According to the incident report, a loss prevention officer at saw Vigilant take off his boots, stash them in a shoe box, put on a new pair of $29.99 boots and walk out of the store without paying for them. He was stopped by the loss prevention officer then turned over to police, the arrest report states. Vigilant was processed at the police substation at the Commons then released on an appearance ticket with a Feb. 22 court date.

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS

• Vincent A. Riela, 48, of Hampton Bays, was arrested Feb. 4 at 1:07 a.m. at 250 Montauk Highway East in Hampton Bays and charged with burglary in the third degree, a felony. Police said the arrest stemmed from an investigation into the theft of a cash register in October 2011.

• John G. Randolph, 25, of Hampton Bays, was arrested Feb. 1 at 5:28 p.m. on Montauk Highway West in Hampton Bays and charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, as well as following too closely, a traffic infraction. Police said Randolph was involved in a reportable motor vehicle accident and he told the arresting officer he drank too much.

• David R. Davis, 40, of Riverhead, was arrested Feb. 2 at 1 a.m. at the Flanders Road and Glider Avenue intersection in Flanders and charged with DWI and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, both misdemeanors. Police said Davis was pulled over for failing to stay in his lane of travel. After being stopped, police said they detected alcohol on Davis’ breath.  He was additionally charged with moving from lane unsafely and failure to obey a traffic control device, both traffic infractions.

• Donald R. White, 46, of Riverhead, was arrested Jan. 30 at 2:03 p.m. at police headquarters in Hampton Bays and charged with filing a false instrument in the second degree and submitting a false written statement, both misdemeanors. According to an incident report, White filled out a falsified Southampton Town Affidavit of Landlord so that another man pretending to be his tenant could obtain a town shellfishing permit. Police said White turned himself in after the Probation Department told him he had charges pending against him. He was released on an appearance ticket and is due in court Feb. 29, police said.

RIVERHEAD

• Jasmine Ann Stephens, 19, of East Hampton, was arrested with a 17-year-old East Hampton teen on Feb. 1 on grand larceny charges after they allegedly stole a $2,500 dog from The Puppy Experience in Aquebogue. According to reports, the owner of the shop reported to police that two females took the dog from the Route 25 shop without paying for it and fled in a car westbound on Route 25. The car was reportedly stopped on Osborn Avenue near Pulaski Street. They were transported to police headquarters, the two were released on $50 bail each, and the dog was returned.

• A 22-year-old Ridge man was arrested on Feb. 2 on felony burglary charges in relation to an incident that happened in September of last year. According to police reports, a Karen Court resident reported on Sept. 7 that someone had broken numerous doors at the residence and and removed a safe later located by Suffolk County Police. Following an investigation, Sean Buckman, 22, was arrested at his girlfriend's house in Coram. He was arrested on charges of burglary in the second degree, transported to the Suffolk County Jail, and held for a morning arraignment.

• Joseph Neil Manarino, 41, of Riverhead, was arrested Feb. 4 at 4:12 a.m. in Flanders and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the first degree-alcohol related, a felony; DWI, a misdemeanor, and speeding, a traffic infraction. Police said Manarino was driving faster than 65 in a 55-mph zone near the intersection of County Road 105 and Flanders Road, and he did not have a functioning rear license plate light. He was found to be intoxicated and his license has been suspended five times for various prior incidents and failure to pay child support, police said. His vehicle was impounded.

• Southampton Town police said 51-year-old Robert Singleton of Riverhead was arrested on two felony charges recently after he According to police, an East Quogue resident reported a car theft on Nov. 30, 2011, reporting that a black tow truck came and took a 1992 Volvo - which was inoperable and had no plates - from the resident's driveway. Following an investigation, police located the car at Gershow Recycling Center in Medford. Records allegedly indicated that Singleton had traded the car and received cash for it. He was arrested on felony charges of filing a false instrument, and felony charges of criminal possession of stolen property. 

NORTH FORK

•  Marcais Smith, 19, of Greenport, was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and menacing on Feb. 5 at 1 a.m. after Daniel Bridge, 28, of Greenport, reported to police that he was assaulted by three unknown men on Manor Place in Greenport, police said. Bridge said that he was struck with a baton several times and that the suspects tried to steal his money, police said. Police located Smith nearby and found him to be involved in the incident and in possession of a metal baton. Later investigation revealed that Bridge knew the identities of at least one of the suspects who allegedly attacked him, and that the incident was the result of a drug-related transaction, police said. Bridge was later arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident, giving a false sworn statement to police and loitering for use / possession of a controlled substance, police said.

• Colin Volinski, 22, of Southold, was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding and driving with an obstructed view on Feb. 4 at 9:44 p.m., after police stopped him for the speeding violation on Wickham Avenue in Mattituck, police said. Volinski was found to be intoxicated, arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held pending arraignment, police said.

• Anthony Secaida, 19, of Cutchogue, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and driving with a suspended license on Feb. 3 at 7:11 p.m. after police stopped him for a traffic violation at the intersection of Route 48 and Ackerly Pond Lane in Southold, police said. A computer check revealed that Secaida’s license was suspended, and investigation revealed that he was in possession of five zip lock bags of marijuana, police said. Secaida was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was released on bail.
