Crimes Nearby: Southold Cop Hospitalized after Responding to Domestic Dispute

NORTH FORK

• A S the morning of Aug. 24 after arresting a Peconic man, who now faces felony assault charges after Friday's incident. Officer Brian McNamara was assisting Riverhead P.D. on Friday morning, attempting to arrest 36-year-old Alfredo Chitay on criminal contempt, harassment and criminal trespass charges following a domestic dispute, Southold Police said. While attempting to arrest Chitay, police said, the man fled and cops were forced to use physical force on the man. During the altercation, McNamara suffered a deep laceration to his right knee, police said. No weapons were used in the struggle, according to police.

• A Riverhead father was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated with his 11-month-old son in the car on the night of Aug. 25. According to Southold Town police, a report was received of an erratic driver heading eastbound on Sound Avenue at approximately 6:58 p.m. on Saturday. Police said they observed Marco Boch, 22, of Riverhead, driving a 1993 Toyota and failing to maintain his designated lane. He was stopped and found to be intoxicated, police allege.

During the investigation, police determined that Boch's 11-month-old son was in the car.  Boch was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child, and a violation of Leandra's Law -- operating a motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition with a child in the car. Boch was processed at Southold Town Police headquarters and held for Sunday morning arraignment. The baby was returned to his mother.

• Kately Worysz, 21, of Southold, was arrested on charges around midnight on Aug. 27 after police said she violated an order of protection. Southold Police said she tried pulling her ex-boyfriend out of his car in the Mattituck 7-Eleven parking lot and hit him several times. Police said Worysz opened the car and started hitting him before the incident ended. She was charged with harassment and criminal contempt. 

• Jonathan Busch, 30, of Palm Beach, Fla. was charged with harassment in the second degree and disorderly conduct after cops said he punched a Whiskey Wind bouncer in the face around 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 25. According to police, Busch was escorted outside of the Front Street bar after the incident, and the fight ensued outside. A police officer reported seeing it, broke it up, and placed Busch under arrest.

RIVERHEAD

• Riverhead Town police report that over a dozen cars were broken into in the Reeves Park area sometime between Sunday night and Monday morning. Police say although over 12 cars were broken into, no glass appears to have been broken. A "variety" of items was stolen from the cars, police say, including a briefcase, loose coins and a GPS. An investigation is ongoing; no suspects have been arrested, police say.

• Southampton Town Police detectives arrested Anthony Lloyd Pendelton, 17, of Flanders on Sunday at 10:39 p.m. and charged him with allegedly sexually abusing a five-year-old girl. Police say the incident occurred on Saturday at a Flanders residence; Pendleton was charged with sexual abuse in the first degree, a class "D" felony, two counts of criminal sexual acts in the first degree, "B" felonies, and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor.
Police released no further information about the incident.

• K-9 Bob's got a nose for sniffing out the stash. After a Suffolk County sheriff’s office K-9 team was recently called in by the Drug Enforcement Administration to perform a narcotics sniff related to currency that had been seized during a narcotics investigation,  K-9 Bob stepped up to task. K-9 Bob, a dual purpose narcotic and patrol service dog who lives in Riverhead, was able to deftly sniff out six different packages of seized funds hidden in various spots and rooms in a "secure location." The savvy pooch successfully sniffed out approximately $1 million in uncirculated currency, linking the seized funds to the narcotics investigation. The currency was entered into evidence and remains in the custody of the DEA Task Force.  

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS

• Southampton Town police say they have charged  two teens with burglarizing a Westhampton home on Monday afternoon. According to police, the teens, both 16, were charged in connection with a laptop that was reported stolen from a Lakeside Lane home at around 1:20 p.m.

• Police said on Monday that two local teenagers were arrested and charged with stealing a car from a residential neighborhood last Thursday night. According to police, the car pulled into the King Kullen parking lot and two males proceeded to park the car and flee on foot from it, while the off-duty officer waited for back-up. Cops impounded the vehicle and found out the car was stolen from a Fordham Drive home. Around 6:30 p.m., officers arrested 17-year-old Alexander Thomas, and about two-and-a-half hours later arrested Westhampton resident, 17-year-old Nicholas Turitto.

• Farmingville resident Jennifer Stines and Stephen Greenberg, of Hampton Bays, were arrested by Southampton police shortly after 5 a.m. on Monday morning after police said they were pulled over and arrested on drugs and weapons charges, and the driver was reportedly operating the vehicle under the influence. Police charged Greenberg, 40, with DWI. Police charged Stines, 27, with a felony third-degree criminal possession of a weapon charge as well as seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Cops said she had heroin and a gravity knife on her. Both were held for morning arraignment.

SOUTHAMPTON

• Oliver J. Liegey, 21, of New York City was arrested Aug. 22 at 5:58 p.m. and charged with criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a misdemeanor, and harassment in the second degree, a violation.  Police said they were called to an incident of “road rage” at the intersection of David Whites Lane and Hampton Road. When they arrived, it was alleged that Liegey exited his vehicle, approached the victims’ vehicle and attempted to remove him by pulling his arm through an open window, police said. While that attempt was unsuccessful, Liegey then spit in the face of the victim and kicked his vehicle before fleeing the scene, police said.  A short time later, Liegey was arrested.  The damaged caused to the victims vehicle was approximately $1,218, according to police.

•  Maude Davis, 54, of New York City, was arrested Aug. 18 at 9:38 p.m. and charged with felony DWI.  Police said they stopped Davis for making an illegal U-turn while attempting to avoid a DWI/Safety Checkpoint in a 2010 Mercedes Benz southbound on North Sea Road. She was processed and held for morning arraignment, police said, and the vehicle was seized under the Suffolk County Vehicle Seizure Law.

• Jessica F. Fitzgerald, 30, of Bridgehampton, was arrested Aug. 25 at 3:24 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a felony, Fitzgerald did possess a forged prescription for the drug Adderall.

• Jennifer L. Farbar, 48, of East Hampton, was arrested on Aug. 22 at 9:58 a.m. and charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, both felonies, and two counts of petty larceny, both misdemeanors.

• Troy D. Pender, 22, of Southampton, was arrested Aug. 25 at 4:33 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of marijuana in the fifth degree, a misdemeanor, and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the third degree, both misdemeanors.  Pender was in possession of more than 25 grams of marijuana, according to police. He was processed and released after posting $100 bail.
