Crimes Nearby: Man High on Pot Laced With Embalming Fluid Bites Officer

The following information was supplied by East End police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate a conviction.

RIVERHEAD:

allegedly high on marijuana laced with embalming fluid on felony assault charges after they said he bit a police officer while resisting arrest. Police were called to the Budget Host Inn in Riverside on Feb. 18 morning shortly before 11 a.m. in response to two people reportedly involved in a fight in the Budget Host parking lot. Police stated that upon investigating the pair, both attacked police officers, and as police attempted to arrest both of them, Julian Wright, 38, of Riverhead, bit a police officer in the hand. Wright was arrested on charges of second-degree assault, a felony, and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and harassment. Tracy Mitchell, 37, of Flanders, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest.

• Riverhead Police arrested a Riverhead woman on DWI charges under Leandra's Law on Feb. 16. Ranisha Pendleton, 28, was stopped around 2 a.m. after police said she failed to maintain her lane while driving westbound on Route 58. Upon investigation, police said they found a one-year-old child to be in the car. She was charged with DWI/Leandra's Law, transported to police headquarters, processed and held for morning arraignment.

• A 16-year-old from Wading River was arrested on petit larceny charges on Feb. 16. According to police, a woman reported that the teen came to her car with other individuals, opened her car door and took an iPad and laptop computer, valued at a total of $900. The woman caught up with the teen, recovered her items, and called police. The teen was transported to police headquarters, processed and held on $500 bail.

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS:

• Anthony Mule, 21, of East Quogue, was arrested Feb. 19 at 4:25 a.m. in Hampton Bays and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree and two counts of menacing in the second degree, all felonies. Police said Mule was near when they received reports that he was menacing two people with a .38 caliber handgun.

• Robert M. Reyer, 27, of Hampton Bays, was arrested Feb. 18 at 5:20 a.m. at his home and charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, a felony. Police said Reyer was involved in a domestic incident in Hampton Bays with his ex-girlfriend and slashed her current boyfriend’s tires.

• Tijay A. Clairborne, 20, of Riverhead, was arrested Feb. 15 at 10:02 a.m. at police headquarters in Hampton Bays and charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a felony. Police said Clairborne turned himself in for a grand larceny that occurred in August 2011 at a Donald Avenue residence in Riverside. According to police, Claiborne, was familiar with and had permission to be in the Donald Drive home when he stole an undisclosed amount of jewelry from it. He was processed and transported to Southampton Town Justice Court for arraignment.

• Debra Heyden, 55 of East Quogue was arrested on Feb. 15 and charged with two counts of grand larceny, four counts of possession of a forged instrument, and one count of grand larceny, all felonies. The charges, police say stem from the result of an August report in which police say Heyden allegedly cashed three checks, totaling $13,700, to an account that was not hers.

• Brandy Spears, 32, Shirley, was arrested Feb. 14 at 11:29 a.m. in Hampton Bays and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. Police said Spears was stopped on East Tiana Road for a traffic infraction near the intersection with Montauk Highway and a subsequent investigation revealed she was in possession of Oxycodone pills, police said. She was additionally charged with driving without a seatbelt, a traffic infraction. She was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing.

SOUTHAMPTON:

• Juan S. Flores-Aparicio, 21, of Southampton, was arrested Feb. 17 at 4:29 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a felony, and petty larceny, a misdemeanor. Southampton Village police said they were called a complaint of a shoplifter at, where Flores-Aparicio allegedly stole a bottle of Beverly Hills Polo Club Cologne. Police said he had a forged social security card on him. He was processed and released after posting $250 bail.

• Karen A. Renz, 30, of Selden, was arrested Feb. 17 at 12:02 p.m. and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle in the second degree, both misdemeanors. She was processed and released after posting $100 bail, Southampton Village police said.

• James K. White, 51, of Southampton, was arrested Feb. 16 at 1:40 p.m. and charged with petty larceny and assault in the third degree, both misdemeanors. Southampton Town police said White was involved in an argument Feb. 14 on Highlands Drive in Noyac with a woman and he took her cellphone and ran over her foot as he was backing out of a driveway. He turned himself in at police headquarters, police said.

• While investigating gunshots reported on Henry Street, discovered a .22 caliber round on a bed, which they say entered the home from outside. The call came at 2:35 p.m. on Feb. 9.  Police said they determined that a stray bullet hit the house while an 18-year-old was. "He was trying to exterminate some of the rodents," Det. Sgt. Herman Lamison said.

NORTH FORK

• Kenneth McKay, 49, of Southold, was arrested and charged with public lewdness and petty larceny on Friday at 11:40 a.m., after police responded to a call that McKay had exposed himself to employees and customers of grocery store in Mattituck, police said. Police said that Waldbaum's employees observed McKay concealing seven steaks worth a total of $80 under his shirt. When the employees stopped him as he attempted to leave the store, McKay removed the steaks, unzipped his pants and exposed himself, police said.

• Jeffrey Jackson, 49, and Julie Jackson, 47, both of East Marion, were each arrested and charged with one felony count of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of unlawful possession of marijuana on Feb. 17 at 6:30 a.m. After authorities learned through investigation that cocaine and marijuana were being sold from a residence at 8100 Route 25 in East Marion, members of the Southold Town Police Department, the Suffolk County Police Emergency Department Service Unit and the Suffolk County Sheriff's Canine Unit assisted in the early morning search last week, police said. A quantity of cocaine and marijuana were recovered during the search, and the suspects were taken into custody, police said.

• Phillip Wanat, 20, of Mattituck, was charged with driving while intoxicated and unlawful fleeing on Feb. 17 at 1:40 a.m., after police attempted to stop Wanat for a traffic violation on Bergen Avenue in Mattituck and Wanat attempted to flee from the scene, police said. Wanat reached a speed of 85 mph in a 35 mph zone on Bergen Avenue before he eventually turned into a private driveway and stopped, police said. Wanat was found to be intoxicated, was arrested and transported to police headquarters in Peconic where he was held pending arraignment.

• The owner of reported to police on Feb. 17 that someone had smashed a window of his business and stole $300 from a cash box sometime between Feb. 16 at 10 p.m. and Feb. 17 at 3 a.m., police said. The owner was notified by his alarm company that an alarm had been activated that night, and he told police he is in the process of having security cameras installed and more alarms place on windows and doors, police said. This is at Mattituck Laundry in recent weeks. Police are still investigating an attempted burglary from Jan. 26 that resulted in $250 worth of damage to the building.
