Crimes Nearby: Greenport Man Arrested in Money Order Fraud Case

The following information was supplied by the East End police departments. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Bolivar H. Martinez-Vicuna, 41, of Water Mill, was arrested Jan. 18 at 2:51 p.m. and charged with assault in the third degree, a misdemeanor. He was released after posting $250 bail. Southampton Village police said the victim was transported to where he was treated and released.

WESTHAMPTON-HAMPTON BAYS

• On Sunday, Southampton Police charged Fernando Patino-Munzo, 44, of Hampton Bays, with DWI.  Police say they stopped Patino after they spotted him swerving and speeding on Flanders Road in Hampton Bays. Police said Patino-Munzo was slurring his speech and had blood-shot eyes, and reportedly performed poorly on a field sobriety test. Aside from being charged with DWI, Patino-Munzo was charged with unreasonable speed and unlicensed operator, driving on shoulder, moving from a lane unsafely and speeding.

• Police charged Noah Daniels, 40, of Riverhead with assault in the third degree and for criminal possession of a controlled substance on Sunday in Quogue. Police say a complaint came in that Daniels struck a man on the side of the face, knocking a tooth loose that had to be extracted. Upon investigation, police found Daniels was in possession of cocaine.

• New York State Police arrested a man on Jan. 21 on State Police said in assisting Southampton Town Police in response to a domestic incident, Israel Garcia, 34, of Riverside, was spotted leaving the scene in a blue jeep. According to reports, Garcia was pulled over and an officer said he detected the smell of alcohol on his breath. Police said he presented a fake North Carolina drivers' license.

• Police charged Daniel Goodale, 34, of Riverhead, with felony DWI on Jan. 23. According to reports, Goodale was driving his car erratically when police pulled him over. Police said he was intoxicated upon investigation, and because he had a DWI charge within the past 10 years, was charged with a felony. He was held pending arraignment at Southampton Justice Court.

NORTH FORK

• Lashawn Lawrence, 28, of Greenport, was charged with criminal possession of a forged instrument on Jan. 21 at 11:41 a.m. at a residence on Ludlum Place in the village. He was arrested on a felony warrant for his involvement in a investigation into the cashing of fraudulent money orders in local banks in town, police said. That investigation was initiated on Dec. 5 of last year. on two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance and second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, and and charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, police said. He was held after the June arrest without bail due to multiple prior felony convictions, police said.

• Georgene Monsell, 53, of Mattituck, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated on Jan. 18 at 4:55 p.m. after her involvement in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Route 48 and Cox Neck Road in Mattituck, police said. After investigation, police found her to be intoxicated and she was arrested and transported to police headquarters in Peconic where she was held overnight pending arraignment, police said. No injuries were reported in the accident.
