Crimes Nearby: Grand Larceny and Assault

The following information was supplied by police departments on the East End. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• Richard Neumann, 28, of Medford, was arrested on a felony grand larceny charge at police headquarters in Hampton Bays Oct. 17 at 2:28 p.m. The arrest stemmed from a jewelry theft that Southampton Town police said happened while Neumann was cleaning the windows at a residence on Cold Spring Court in Southampton Oct. 12.

• Curtis L. Trent, 22, of Riverhead, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and resisting arrest on Oct. 17 at 8:53 p.m. after Southold Town Police stopped him for traffic violations at the intersection of Eugenes Road and Beebe Drive in Cutchogue, police said. Trent became combative, fighting with the officers at the scene until he was subdued and placed under arrest, police said. Further investigation revealed that Trent was in possession of marijuana. He was arrested and transported to Southold Town Police headquarters in Peconic for processing and held for arraignment.

• Kevin A. Kani, 32, of Hicksville, was charged with DWI drugs and unlawful possession of marijuana on Oct. 17 at 1:47 p.m., after police stopped him for a traffic violation on Route 48 in Mattituck and further investigation revealed that he was impaired by drugs and in possession of marijuana, police said. The defendant was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he was held for arraignment.

Westhampton-Hampton Bays

• Kelly Walters, 25, of Sayville, was charged with grand larceny, a felony, after she was detained Oct. 15 at the Stop & Shop store on Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays at 7:00 p.m. Police say store security claim Walters fraudulently altered customer refunds for cash in the amount of $1300.
• Dequan Clairborne, 20, of East Quogue, was charged with felony grand larceny on Oct. 15 after he was detained by Stop & Shop security at the Hampton Bays supermarket on Montauk Highway. Claiborne was charged at 7:00 p.m. Police say Clairborne stole more than $1,000 from the store.   

Riverhead

•Trever Jackson, 18, of Flanders, was charged with felony assault on Oct. 19 in Flanders at 11:10 p.m. According to police, Jackson wasinvolved in a domestic dispute on Brookhaven Avenue during which he hit another man in the head with a 25-pound dumbbell.
