UPDATED: Cops Say Pair Robbed East Hampton Man

A Montauk man and a Southampton man are charged with second-degree robbery.

Two local men have been arrested following a robbery in East Hampton early Monday morning.

A 20-year-old man called 911 after being robbed by a pair following a confrontation at a home at 504 Three Mile Harbor Rd. at about midnight, according to East Hampton Town police.

Officers responding were given a description of the vehicle that left the house, and located it driving south on Stephen Hands Path in East Hampton. The two men in the vehicle were taken into custody.

Jacob R. Carter, 23, of Montauk, and Jonathan I. Pressley, 21, of Southampton, were both charged with second-degree robbery and held overnight.

Police Detective Lt. Chris Anderson said the victim was acquainted with one of the men. After Carter and Pressley stopped at the residence, there was a dispute and they forcibly took more than $1,000 cash from the victim.

There were no weapons involved, Anderson said.

They were to be arraigned in East Hampton Town Justice Court on Monday. Carter posted $20,000 cash bail and was released, while Pressley is being held on $20,000.
