Cops: Drunken Driving Arrests Ahead of Holiday Weekend

East Hampton Town police report five arrests.

The following information was supplied by the East Hampton Town Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation and does not indicate guilt.

• April M. Wehle, 25, of Wellington, Fla., was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge in Wainscott on Aug. 27 at about 2:40 a.m. Police said she failed to dim her high beams on Montauk Highway, by the intersection fo Wainscott Northwest Road. She was stopped near Sayre's Path at 2:15 a.m. Held for arraignment, she was released later that morning.

• James F. McDonagh, 30, of Thiells, N.Y., was arrested on a misdemeanor drunken driving charge after police said he was speeding on Montauk Highway, near South Essex, in Montauk on Aug. 29 at about 1:55 a.m. Police said he was driving 30 mph in a 48 mph zone. Charged with DWI, he was released on his own recognizance.

• Yisell Reinhardt, 29, of the Bronx, N.Y., was also charged with DWI, as a misdemeanor, in Montauk on Aug. 29. Police said she failed to stop at a stop sign a the intersection of Flamingo Avenue and West Lake Drive at about 3:45 a.m. Her 1996 Honda also crossed over the double-yellow line and single white pavement markings several times, police said. She was stopped on Flamingo Avenue, near Farragut Road, and arrested just after 4 a.m. Held for arraignment, she was released on her own recognizance.

• Jeriel J. Rivera-Carrero, 29, of Montauk, was arrested on a misdemeanor DWI charge on Aug. 29 in Montauk at about 4:30 a.m. According to police, he didn't stop for a stop sign at the intersection of West Lake Drive and Flamingo Avenue while driving a motorcycle at about 4:05 a.m. He was reportedly driving fast down West Lake Drive, before turning into the Liar's Saloon parking lot. Police stopped him there, and said he appeared drunk. Held for arraignment, he was released on his own recognizance.

• Edward S. Crooke, 34, of Noosaville, was arrested on a charge of aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor, after he was allegedly caught driving with a blood alcohol level above .18 on Aug. 21 at about 1:10 a.m. Police pulled him over on Montauk Highway in East Hampton in a 2003 Jeep with Florida plates when they saw him cross the double-yellow line, then drive onto the shoulder, hitting a curb and then drive or a short distance on the sidewalk. He was stopped near Hampton Place. Following arraignment, he was released on $1,000 bail.
